Dear Friends,
What a month for the Speight family! First, we delight in our grandson Simon Peter Spinden, born May 29th to daughter Emily and son-in-law David! After some complications, all three are doing well. Thank you for continued prayer for their family of eight!
Thank you for continued prayer for our daughter-in-law Beth and son Daniel and two month-old daughter Mary! After some further challenges they are doing well, also!
Then came Father’s Day, with all our kids and grandkids here for the first time. Golden. Then everything turned in a shocking moment. Kim was carrying two-week-old Simon Peter when she was accidently tripped by another grandchild. The Lord, an angel, and Kim’s own heroic instincts resulted in Simon Peter being saved from being crushed under Kim (Simon checked out just fine!) and Kim bearing the full brunt of the fall with an excruciating shoulder injury. It was an intense test for us, our adult kids and grandkids to witness. The Lord’s strength moved in our weakness and fear in the midst of Kim’s pain and intitial uncertainty about Simon. In a difficult circumstance, hopefully, never repeated again, the Lord help us endure the moment from our various perspectives with great love for one another. An ambulance ride and a rather wild night in ER(several other life and death matters going on all around us) ended in a great answer to the prayers of our Come Rest intercessors—Kim’s dislocated arm snapped gently back into place with no pain. The look on the Doctor’s face was slight amazement. The look on Kim’s face, deep relief. Follow-up with the orthopedic surgeon shows no need for further tests or surgery! He was rather amazed as well. Thank You Jesus! She faces 3 weeks of very uncomfortable immobilization and then physical therapy. We also thank God for the ongoing care of our chiro Dr. Goad and massage therapist Sister Nancy Hoffman—and, of course, our CRM intercessors. Needless to say, like my fall/injury 17 years ago, this greatly slows Come Rest activity down. Kim is a great patient. I am a willing, if not lacking, nurse/housekeeper. I hate it that she is going through this, but I am SO grateful and believe the Lord protected Kim and Simon Peter from far worse! Please agree with me for a miraculous recovery for Kim that will actually work together for increased health and exercises making her actually stronger all the days of her life—in Jesus’ name!
Thank you for continued prayers for the young grieving family of Kim’s niece Jordann, whose 35 year-old husband Nick recently passed away, leaving Jordann and their children—James, Kielle, Leo, and Miles.
We’re grateful for your continued prayers for Dick’s cousin Kathy who is steadily improving! in her battle with cancer. Thank You Jesus for your all-sufficient grace!

All month we have daily meditated upon Psalm 37 and Luke. Dick had powerful dream from the Lord last month concerning a young man named Luke—and so much more about the manifest presence of the Lord coming to our city…and yours. We are still considering it. For now, we hear Him say from Luke 5:4, “Launch out into the deep, let down your nets for a catch.” Its’ not lost on me that He led Emily and David to name their new son, “Simon Peter”. “Simon” means “he who listens”. Peter means “Rock.” Come Rest was established to help people listen to the Rock. The word “listen” means hear and obey. When we come rest, we bear real fruit, and come up higher in His holiness, wisdom, and earnest, fervent, effective prayer. Though this is a time of weakness and less activity, the Lord says Go Deeper, Catch People. Simon had every good reason to not trust and obey Jesus. NEVERTHELESS, at the Lord’s word, Simon obeyed and received overwhelming catch! Friends of Come Rest, whether you feel like it or not, whether it makes sense or not—Jesus is calling you deeper in Him, for Him, to reach out in prayer, word, and deed! Let down your nets. Invite people around you to come rest in His loving arms!

We heard this word in prayer for someone recently. We believe it’s for all of you, and us! “Worship Me. Set it all aside. Empty your hands into My hands. Lift your hands. Praise Me for who I am. Thank Me for all I’ve done. This is how you fight; this is how you fish; not alone, but by My side. You need to worship Me. They need you to Worship Me. I love you. I cover you. Stay covered. Worship Me.”
Josh 5:13-15; Lk 5:1-11; 7:36-50; 1 Pet 5:6,7

No groups this Sunday the 30th. We are taking things one day, one week, at a time during Kim’s recovery and therapy, for the pacing of the ministry. We thank you for your prayers and patience. We’ll resume gatherings “as soon as peaceable.”

Last month, we felt the Lord lead us to invest in advertising that reprised and propelled our “Wait Upon the Lord’s Arrow” to over 1, 400 views! So timely for our nation now! We now reprise “Grace for Thorns”. The older we get, the more I appreciate Paul describing his(our weakness) and God’s strength in @ Cor 12! https://youtu.be/25ie8VMXoTw Again, with all the wickedness around us, we must remember the Lord has us surrounded and laughs at His enemies(Ps 37:13!) Heard Him say last Friday night worship, “I love you. I have you covered.” When we are weak in Him, He is strong in us—for us, for others!
