I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word do I hope. My soul waits for the Lord, more than those who watch for the morning—yes more than those who watch for the morning. Ps 130-5-6
Dear friends,
Make Psalm 130 your meditation. The one clear thing we heard this week was, “Wait for Me—more than those who watch for the morning.” He repeats this for emphasis. He wants you and me to watch for Him more earnestly and expectantly than sentries would guard a city or encampment from enemy attack. From ancient days prime attack time is at the crack of dawn when one’s troops had enough light to maneuver, when enemy troops are sleeping. An earnest, effective morning watch would often make the difference between vigilant victory or drowsy disaster. Do you give yourself to Him, wait upon His leading, as if your life depended upon it? Or do you simply practice “spiritual disciplines” as a compartmentalized area of your life? Jesus is not a leisure activity or even an ingredient in overall health. He is everything. His first coming made your salvation possible and the Helper to lead you. His second coming will determine if you end up with the sheep or the goats. This very night your soul may be required of you. Do you just claim Him as Savior, or are you totally sold out to your Lord? He’s brought you so far, but it’s still possible to blow it, still possible to drift, becomedeceived, fall away from Him in cold heartedness, and become His enemy. God forbid! Don’t dabble and wing it, double down under His wings. He has come for you. He is coming for you. Are you coming after Him?
Here’s the word we heard from Him while ministering to someone this week. We believe it for us and for you. “Settle in under My arm. Remember, I keep you as the apple of My eye; I hide you under the shelter of My wings. I do the keeping. I do the hiding. You do the letting. Let Me hide you; let Me keep you before My face. Practice the few lasting habits I’v taught you, over the years, to stay before Me. Ask Me, and I will show you two NEW ways in the coming days. This next season of your life, I want to help you joyfully and expectantly wait for Me—more than those who watch for the morning! It will be a two-fold waiting—looking forward to My coming and looking forward to how I will unfold each new day I give you. Begin now!” (Ps 17; Jer 33; Ps 130)
