Dear Ones,
Over the last two weeks, we keep hearing “Walk in My Spirit!” So we are meditating upon Galatians 5:24-25. We submit that word and pray those verses over all the friends of Come Rest, and the whole Body of Christ into 2025! Join us!
Also, I awoke in the middle of the night last week and felt directed to 1 Samuel 1-3; reading of Hannah and her son Samuel, and his prophetic calling under the ministry of faulty Eli and his corrupt sons. It’s precious to me, because 41 years ago this month, I was preparing a sermon on the call of Samuel as part of my required preparation for ordination as an elder in the Methodist denomination. After all these years of the Lord’s faithfulness, it is all the more precious to consider aging Eli’s wise counsel to young Samuel on how to hear the Lord’s voice—’Say, “Speak Lord, Your servant is listening!”’
After all these years of ministry, there is nothing more precious to me than His voice in scripture and in my heart…and helping others learn to trust, heed, and obey Him. In that regard, you might want to read Chapter 11, “The Voice” in my book COME UP. It’s our best testimony/teaching on how to position yourself to hear, when He wants to speak to you and through you. In the days ahead, you will need walk in the Spirit like never before. False media, false politicians, false teachers, and many more false prophets will abound. The Lord’s not worried. Neither should you be. You can learn to recognize and follow His voice more fully; if you really want to practice seeking Him. You won’t if you don’t. We all have so much to learn and enjoy. He’s waiting for you to make heeding His voice your priority. Because guiding you from within your heart is why He fought so hard to live there.
